Was surprised to find a good makan place here! Packed with people at 1pm. They have a good selection
of food, like Bak kut teh, Vegetarian, Pan Mee, Mixed rice, etc... I
went for the chicken rice stall which was the favourite here I think.
Ordered Siew Yok Fan and paid a shocking RM 6.80 for it. Tasted good.
Big plate! But so expensive???

Kolok mee @ Miri
As usual we went to Yakin Food Centre @ Miri for breakfast. Ordered
the kolok mee from the inside stall.... RM 3/bowl now! Didn't quite like
the smell of pork. The noodle is springy, char siew and fish cake is
fresh. As always, the whole bowl of mee is so salty :(
Tomato Kuey Teow @ Bintulu
Ate at: Farley Food Court (new Parkcity area)
Paid: RM 5
Verdict: Was quite shocked when served because the tomato colour was too artificial. A bit too starchy and sour for my liking.

Char Kuey Teow @ Miri
Eat this at : Yakin Food Centre, Miri (the last stall)
Price: RM 4.50
Verdict: Thumbs up! The noodle is fried until so fragrant with a slight burnt smell. Eat with the sour sambal and fried egg for extra oomph!

Another one of my all-time favourite!

Paid: RM 3 for 2 rolls
Verdict: One non-spicy, one spicy. Filled with all the standard fillings for popiah-mangkuang, taugeh, carrot, green vege, dried shrimps, peanuts. Tasted ok :)

Vegetable Dumplings (Cai Kuih) @ Bintulu
One of my favourite food of all times. Bought this from Mong Kok
Foodcourt (Popular Corner Seafood Restaurant) at Bintulu old town area. A
little bit expensive at RM 2 for 3 pieces of nicely made and nicely
packed cai kuih. Ate this for breakfast 2 days in a row. Best cai kuih
here!
Banana Leaf Rice @ Bintulu
Location: Banana Leaf Rice, Parkcity, Bintulu (big corner shop at the T-junction)
Price: about RM 10 for a vege meal
Verdict: Was craving for banana leaf rice so off we went to this impressive looking shop. This is not those typical indian curry shop but rather exclusive... I ordered vege and he ordered chicken curry. Our orders turned out the same except he has the extra curry. Taste is so-so. Not worth the money.

Fish Head Curry @ Bintulu
Location: Happy Garden Seafood Restaurant, Bintulu
Price: RM 31 for 2 pax
Verdict: Almost every table ordered this. Very fragrant! Comes with ladies' fingers, brinjals and fu chok. Curry with lotsa kunyit goodness. Got muak at the end of the meal though. Will be back for the crabs!

Nine 2 Five Cafe @ Miri
This is
my second time here for lunch. It's located at Pelita area. First time I
wanted to go vegetarian so I ordered Mapo Tofu which I didn't take a
photo of it, but it was not good, like 5/10.
Fish Tofu
This round, I had this Fish Tofu. It was really really good! It tasted
more like egg + tofu. I think it was supposed to be crispy but it wasn't
(much to my delight), a bit soggy just nice for me. I love the sweet
mayo on top. Do give it a try the next time you visit this place! :)
Riverfront Cafe @ Bintulu
Came here
with my colleagues during lunchtime and was surprised to see the
restaurant almost fully packed. I ordered orange juice without sugar and
ice, and Indonesian Fried Rice which seemed the most-loved dish among
my colleagues :)
The nice menu
Drinks menu
Indonesian Fried Rice (RM 7.90)
I love the fried rice! It came with an egg, papadam, some ayam masak merah, and 2 cucuk sate.
I
guess the rice was already prepared and not fried on order, but good
that it was warm. The ayam masak merah was delicious and I liked the
gravy much. The sate was made of chicken fillet, the kuah was thick,
very nutty and a bit spicy.
Bill
came up to
RM 16.90 (exclude tax) for my share. I was shocked to see the orange
juice was RM 9.00 so I double checked the menu and indeed it was RM 9.00
for a glass of orange juice! Didn't look carefully at the drinks menu,
thought it was RM 5.80 just like pineapple/watermelon juice.
Never ever order orange juice there! With RM 9.00 I can buy oranges enough for one whole week.Overall, it was a great place to dine in. Love the atmosphere too. Air-conditioned, and the service was fast. I will be back! ^^
This restaurant is situated beside RHB bank at old town Bintulu, overlooking the waters.
Sugar Bun
This fast
food chain has been in Sarawak for a long time. I remember 10 years ago
there was a branch in Times Square KL but in the end also chap lap.
I noticed that people in Sarawak love this more than McD and KFC. I
myself begin to fall in love with Sugar Bun only recently. This set
costs about RM 12.90, comes with fragrant rice, pickled vege, and two
pieces of chicken, with a choice of satay sauce, spicy sauce.
We
chose spicy sauce of course! Super spicy, even the fried chicken itself
is spicy. The gravy is really awesome la! The chicken is quite big,
compared to KFC. And the rice comes with bits of ham and raisins. Much
better than KFC rice. I now crave for Sugar Bun more than KFC and McD
:))
Kampung Seafood House, Bintulu
Wanted
to try this for some time after being recommended by my friend. This
place is rather spacious, with non-aircond and aircond section. There
were not many customers that day probably due to Raya plus it was
raining. Not sure whether they served pork, people working there were a
mix of Chinese and Malay.
Hubby ordered pandan barley.
I got this young coconut for RM4.50. Quite expensive to me.
MENU!
RM40/kg
mud crab. Bigger crabs compared to what we always eat. We ordered fried
crabs with egg. Not nice..... I would say 5/10. I've tasted much better
ones. They put lemongrass into this dish, tasted weird. The crab meat
was tasty though.
Midin ulam
Fish tofu (RM12). Quite a big plate. The gravy was good.
Overall we loved it. Will be back to try out the other dishes!
Little Hong Kong, Miri
Dimsum breakfast one happy morning turned disaster. Don't know what else to comment besides this place sucks to the max.
